The automotive industry is undergoing major changes due to digitalization. Then it is extra vital to have an IT partner who is stable and secure,  and also flexible to support the necessary changes and growth. Kverneland Bil has chosen Cegal as its IT partner.

In changing times, you need a solid and secure IT partner who is flexible enough to support necessary changes a nd new growth opportunities so that Kverneland Bil can strengthen its market position.

Quality in deliveries, stability, competence, and sufficient access to resources when needed. These were some reasons why we chose Cegal.

Jan Henrik Vuyk, Kverneland Bil

Jan Henrik Vuyk, IT manager at Kverneland Bil says that Cegal has been the car dealership's IT partner for seven-eight years. He emphasizes that Kverneland Bil is very satisfied with Cegal. Cegal manages most of the IT services that the company uses, including the systems behind car sales and the systems needed by the auto repair shops. In addition, they supply IT support and on-site help, and manages the procurement of computer equipment. For all practical purposes, Cegal is Kverneland Bil's IT department.

Cegal provides security in time of change

Kverneland Bil is one of Norway's oldest and largest car dealers. The brothers Olaus and Aadne Kverneland opened a car dealership in Stavanger in May 1921. The first cars they sold were A-Fords and T-Fords.
Since the beginning in Lagårdsveien in Stavanger city center, Kverneland has expanded south, north, and west. Today, the car dealership is located in Kristiansand, Mandal, Lyngdal, Bergen, Haugesund, Sandnes, Bryne, and Oslo, with more than 300 employees. The dealership represents Ford, Volvo, Polestar, Mazda, MG, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Jeep car brands.

The business has grown steadily despite all the significant changes the industry has gone through since its inception. The last couple of years has been no exception to an industry in continuous change with more direct car sales from the manufacturer and the arrival of electric cars. In the 1920s and 30s, cars were of such poor quality that they often had to be repaired at the workshop. At that time, the auto repair was more important than car sales. From 1945 to 1961, there was car rationing in Norway with tough competition for the few customers allowed to buy a car. Today, digitalization impacts the entire customer and sales journey, as more and more people buy cars directly from car manufacturers via the Internet.

Vuyk underlines: "In times like these, it is imperative to have the security that our IT systems work and are always available. I am pleased that Cegal knows us and our IT systems as well as they do."

With Cegal as an IT partner, Kverneland Bil has gained:
●    Cost-effective IT operation.
●    A scalable IT platform that supports growth and expansion both organically and through acquisitions.
●    A stable and secure IT platform that supports the employees in their daily work, enabling them to provide good customer experiences and service. This means customers return despite being hunted by new players and other car dealers.

IT manager Vuyk says that Kverneland Bil does not need to be the first to adopt the latest technologies or try out fancy services.

Most importantly, we have a cost-effective IT platform that ensures us and our customers good, stable services. Cegal delivers that.

Jan Henrik Vuyk, Kverneland  Bil

IT manager Vuyk, adds that you cannot repair a car without a PC today. And customers who are going to pick up their car must be notified when the work is completed,or if there are delays.

The IT platform Cegal manages has supported Kverneland Bil's growth and market expansion.

Vuyk says: “It is easy to roll new dealers onto the IT platform and roll out new users. Bringing more users on board costs little, and we save a lot by not duplicating solutions and systems.”

The IT manager adds that Cegal also assists with collecting and analyzing data. Several of the IT systems that the car industry uses are legacy systems that cannot be operated as a cloud service (SaaS). The data must therefore be collected on a separate platform. On top of the data, user-friendly applications are developed that utilize and visualize the data needed for important information.
