What does a typical workday look like to you?

A typical workday for me depends very much on what’s planned for the day. I prefer working in the office as I enjoy social interactions with colleagues. Usually, my day starts with a cup of coffee or tea and then I start getting ready for whatever is planned for the day. Some days are full of meetings and other days I prioritize focusing on getting work done. To stay productive and energized throughout the day, I like to take a break outside and go for a walk to freshen up my mind and move.

What do you work with?

I work as a Business Consultant in Application Management (AM). We are part of Business Services in Cegal and are very customer-oriented. In my daily work, I take care of customer requests and manage their application portfolio. In addition, I am working on improving our AM service. This is a lot of fun as it allows me to be creative and challenge the status quo.

Next to my work as a consultant, I’m leading Humanity at Cegal. We work on humanitarian projects to give back to the society. It also gives us the opportunity to engage our people to work on pro bono projects. This year we started a partnership with Save the Children Norway as their first EdTech partner.

Cegal is a partner of Save the Children, can you tell us a bit about this? 

At Cegal, we want our employees to have meaningful work, and we have therefore at least one goosebump project every year where our employees can use their expertise and skills through pro bono projects.

This year, we have Save the Children Norway (Redd Barna) as a partner and support them in their global EdTech initiatives. The partnership is an important part of Cegal's sustainability strategy and is led by our internal organization, Humanity at Cegal.

Save the Children's Telethon is now on Sunday, tell us what Cegal is doing here.

Save the Children is the recipient of this year’s NRK TV-aksjonen fundraising campaign, to help children in war and conflict areas live in peace. As partners, we do our best to support. We have been joining the phone fundraiser campaign both in Oslo and Stavanger, this is where businesses call their network and contacts to ask for donations. We have also an internal fundraising campaign for our employees and encourage our people to register as bøssebærer (collection volunteers). As a bøssebærer, you will walk around on a door-to-door campaign on 22 October to raise money to support the cause. These are the different ways we support Save the Children through NRK TV-aksjonen - all with the goal of engaging as many people as possible and spreading awareness about the cause so that children can live in peace.

What drives you at work and in your role, what's fun?

I thrive when I can work on challenges that require creative thinking and having the bigger picture in mind. This can be, for instance, looking into how we can get to the set direction and evolve our service. Also, I enjoy a good mix of tasks as it allows me to learn a lot and apply different skills. Ultimately, what’s key to thriving at work is the people we work with and our leaders. I think I’ve been very lucky there.

My manager allows me to look outside the box and try out different approaches with the goal of improving our service.

What is the best thing about working in Cegal?

The best thing about working in Cegal is the positive working environment, the responsibility, and the flexibility I receive. We care about each other, support each other, and have fun along the way. This makes it a healthy working culture to be in. When it comes to responsibility, very early on when I joined Cegal I was given a good amount of responsibility, which I am pleased about. Lastly, the flexibility I get from my manager allows me to juggle life well.

Which app do you use the most, and why?

Microsoft Teams. As most of my team is in Stavanger, I use Teams to communicate with my team and colleagues.

What is your favorite quote?

Our greatest ability as humans is not to change the world, but to change ourselves.

Is there something fun we should know about you?

I am a passionate horse rider. My most adventurous equestrian trips have been riding through the Atacama desert in Northern Chile and the Canadian Rockies.

I did my first charity fundraiser when I was 8 years old. Back then it was for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Thailand.

Is there something about you that not many people know?

I am currently trying out Krav Maga, an Israeli martial art. 🏅

I’ve been solo traveling through Chile and Peru. 🎒

I love watching sunsets next to the water after a busy day. 🌄
