What does a typical workday look like to you?

During a working week, I typically have two or three customer and/or user meetings with discussions about potential new features in our software, a couple of daily stand-ups with different teams, internal planning meetings with the development teams, and maybe the occasional software support request I have to watch.

Which technologies do you work with?

I primarily work with our Petrel plug-ins, as well as our license platform Keystone.

Our Petrel plug-ins are a range of software products designed to complement the Petrel platform used by exploration and production companies, by simplifying, improving, and optimizing geophysical and geological workflows. I am the product owner of Toolbox, the largest and oldest of these products.

You have just taught at the University of Oslo, can you say a little more about this?

I recently assisted Cristiano Camatel, one of our super talented account managers with a geotechnical background, on a visit to the University of Oslo where we showcased some of the products we offer and had the opportunity to chat with bright and committed students and doctoral fellows. It was great fun and made me reminisce a bit about my happy student life. It is very important to communicate with the next generation of geoscientists and hope Cegal does many more such workshops in the future.

What drives you at work and in your role, what's fun?

I like working at the intersection between geophysics and IT.

Collaborate closely with customers on new, useful features in our software and get to use both my core competence, as well as learn a lot of new things about software development and product management along the way. My job is very varied, with a lot of responsibility and a lot of trust.

What is the best thing about working in Cegal?

Skillful, engaged and fun colleagues as well as a very good environment.

Good provision for professional development and varied career opportunities. A very flexible job where it is possible to ensure work-life balance by for instance starting the weekend early if Friday is free of meetings and the sun is shining.

What is your favorite app?

According to the phone, Teams, Messenger and Spotify are the most used. My favorite apps, on the other hand, are Planta which is the only way I can keep the plants healthy, Finn.no as good bargains are life itself, and Pinterest where I find lots of fun renovation inspiration here.

Is there anything else fun we should know about you?

I am very fond of animals, and especially dogs. We adopted a large Rhodesian Ridgeback almost two years ago, which we are constantly working to make into a steady, mature and balanced guy. It is very rewarding.

My partner and I are currently renovating an apartment, so here most of our free time is spent demolishing and building walls, and the home has looked like a construction site for almost half a year.

As a real geologist, I also have a medium sized rock collection of which I am very proud.
