I haven't been here long enough for anything to feel typical yet. Fortunately, there are many good conversations with customers, colleagues, and partners - new opportunities, bids, and requests to consider. Plans, routines, and reports that are necessary to function effectively as a large and growing company. But luckily, there is also time to get to know the people that I will be working with.
Information technology! I understand most things to a certain level of detail, but I need experts if there are too many decimals after the comma. I like the interaction of the technologies and components that underlie our value propositions. That being said, my heart beats a little extra for data, meaning information. Sharing data across contexts and disciplines has significant untapped potential, especially as a make-or-break for AI and automation ambitions. Smart Data - a simpler everyday life in Norwegian municipalities, is a good and readable example of this, and it was also the last bid I helped win before starting in Cegal.
In our time where data provides insights and drives decisions, it is important to ensure that all data we have about our customers is managed properly. At Cegal, we use Salesforce as our CRM tool. To exaggerate a bit, we can say that if it doesn't exist in Salesforce, it doesn't exist.
Customer focus and value creation for our customers are the most important things we do. We exist to turn complex IT into success for our customers. This could, for example, involve reducing power consumption and CO2 emissions through more energy-efficient data centers, cost optimization through flexible and scalable cloud models, reducing cloud consumption by cleaning up data and reducing complexity, and generally reducing IT costs.

With Cetegra, energy companies gain access to all programs and data in a single, collaborative, and cloud-based solution that meets the specific digitalization needs of the energy sector – from data integration to cybersecurity. By harnessing the power of cloud, and data processing and being a complete service offering (as-a-service), Cetegra simplifies work processes and increases productivity by delivering an open integration platform with an intuitive interface accessible to all users.
We actively collaborate with Cetegra with major players in the global oil and gas industry, leveraging Cegal's domain expertise in geoscience and the portfolio of products relevant to this industry and solution. Furthermore, as we move towards 2024, we are in an exciting phase where we will introduce Cetegra tailored to the power industry, primarily in Norway and Europe initially.

In the media over the past year, Generative Predictive Transformer (GPT) has become synonymous with AI. These are useful tools that I use as a supplement to other inputs. I think of it as sparring with a well-informed colleague who also makes mistakes from time to time. It's most fun to use the image version for illustrations in presentations. But, you have to be lucky for it to turn out well. Otherwise, I use AI in connection with analysis and forecasting, in the form of prediction models. It's a bit more controlled (read: limited), but you can also have more control over the margin of error. And the AI definition is so loose (read: almost useless) that we use it when submitting an expense report. Computer vision on the receipts.
In short - the people, the feeling of contributing to value, and learning.
Slightly longer - I am technology-positive, deep into the sci-fi scale. Yes, from a sustainability perspective, technological development has landed us in the challenges we now face, but it has also created an - unevenly distributed - growth in living standards that is beyond belief. And, only continued technological development will get us through and out of this. No other approaches hold up to reality. To succeed, established energy players must be willing and able to adapt. I want to contribute as much as I can to this, and Cegal is, for me, the best place for it.
Sorry to be repeating myself, but it's the people I've met. Now I can add customer representatives as well. We have a demanding mission at Cegal - one we take seriously, there is no doubt about that from the conversations I've had. And there is certainly no doubt that customer contact also has significant responsibility. In some cases, we are talking about almost incomprehensibly large economic values, in others about critical services, life, and health. It's not difficult to be humble when I try to take in their everyday lives.

To be able to participate in the customer's decision to choose Cegal as a partner and to experience that this is a good decision for them, that is fantastic!
Outlook and Teams. But, if we're not thinking about work, it's probably Audible. I got hooked on audiobooks when the kids were small. I could watch over them while they played and have a bit of me time at the same time. Now it makes the commute bearable. 😀🚗
Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

For me, it captures both optimism and responsibility related to an individual's contribution to the whole.
