What does a typical workday look like to you?

I have a short walk from home, then I sit down at my desk and take on the tasks of the day. I have several clients I work with, preferably on different days. By doing this, my workdays are structured but I can also work with different projects during a week. We like to work with Jira boards or based on a stand-up to uncover what needs to be worked with. Then it's on to problem solving and programming. We sit in an open office environment so that we can discuss professional problems and cases, also across customers.

Which technologies do you work with?

Much of the day is spent working on Oracle-based services. Such as Oracle APEX which is a low-code tool from Oracle to quickly create tailored web applications for the customer, and ORDS (Oracle REST Data Services), which allows rapid development of REST APIs for the data in the Oracle database.

I also spend some of my time on both JavaScript and .Net, on the front-end and back-end respectively. You can call me a full stack-developer, or a "potato" as we say in Norwegian.

What drives you at work and in your role, what's fun?

Solving the customer's needs in a way that saves both time and resources is always rewarding.

I thrive when I can work on larger integrations and complex problems that make the brain work a bit. A consultant's day can be well varied with different clients, which in turn involves different people, technologies and ways of working which means that you are constantly developing. The continuous development of my interpersonal and professional skills is fun.

What is the best thing about working in Cegal?

Cegal gives me the opportunity to develop professionally, and I also get to develop on an interpersonal level by being able to work
towards many exciting projects and customers. At the same time, I have good colleagues around me that I can rely on if I run into problems, which I may need help with.

This year, the plan is to get the APEX certification 1Z0-760: Oracle APEX Cloud Developer Specialist.

And our entire department will attend at the OUGN2023 in Oslo in April, which will be great both academically and socially!

What is your favorite app and why?

YouTube. I don't think there's anything you can't find a video on, whether it's entertainment or related to something more professional.

Is there anything else fun we should know about you?

I have previously played football, and now I watch far too many hours of it on TV if you ask my partner ⚽. My favorite podcast is LaLigaLoca, so yes, I'm probably above average interested in Spanish football 😅 Now I play golf, and am otherwise very fond of training and travelling.

I picked up my childhood interest in Lego again during Covid, and have spent too much money on it since 💲💲

Fortunately, I'm better at my job than I am on the surfboard 😅
