With a well-functioning team, where everyone knows their roles and positions, Cegal's E-sports team hopes to go all the way and win the E-sports final at this year's ONS Energy League.

Odin Dahle, Andreas Wallentinsen, Damien Jeremiah, Adrian Eskeland and Anders Nikolas Grøndahl, Cegal's E-sport team has already beaten both Equinor and Baker Hughes in the preliminary group stage of the ONS Energy League. Now only the E-sport team from Schlumberger stands in the way before a place in the final is secured. The e-sport being competed in is Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), a shooting game with five participants on each team. The winner is the team that has eliminated the other using tactics, cooperation and virtual bullets and gunpowder.

"We beat Schlumberger earlier this year in the Haven Company League and expect to beat them again in the semi-finals," says Anders Nikolas Grøndahl, team leader of Cegal's team. He works as a Service Desk Engineer at Cegal's head office at Forus.

The semi-final will take place on Monday, August 26 at 17:30 during the opening day of the ONS conference in Stavanger. If Cegal's team defeats Schlumberger in the semi-final, the final match against the winner of Archer Elite and Interwell awaits: https://www.twitch.tv/havencompanyleague.

Energy League, an E-sports cup with preliminary group games and final cup matches,  similar to, for example, the European Football Championship. This was established by ONS (Offshore Northern Seas) and the Norwegian E-sport company Haven in 2024. ONS organizes the ONS conference in Stavanger every other year, while Haven has established itself as an innovative company that aims to become a total supplier of E-sport to companies. The aim of the Energy League is to use E-sports to strengthen collaboration and networking within the energy sector through engaging competitions.

E-sports tournament for the energy sector

Collaboration, communication, the importance of being well prepared and that practice makes perfect.

Through the Energy League, all companies in the energy sector can participate in an E-sports tournament that promotes competition, teamwork, strategic thinking and corporate pride. ONS and Haven want to establish a new tradition in the energy industry with an emphasis on competition, collaboration and community. The tournament will also include various stunts with the offshore industry and will act as a platform for companies to showcase their E-sports initiatives and engage with industry peers. In the long term, Haven also wants to do exciting things such as tournaments between different oil platforms and rigs.

"We are very excited about the Energy League, as more and more energy companies are starting to establish internal E-sports cultures. Many are already major players in the Haven Company League, which is now in its fourth season," says Ruben Eggebø, CEO of Haven.
