Cegal is Empowering Geoscience Research Through Educational Agreements
As a global technology company with employees in nine countries, Cegal is committed to driving diversity and innovation for the academic community.
Geoscience plays a crucial role in understanding our planet's processes, resources, and the impacts of human activity on the environment. From exploring for natural resources to managing environmental risks, the field of Geoscience offers a wealth of opportunities for students and researchers alike.
Cegal has supported academic research in this field for over 15 years by providing access to our Geoscience software tools, enabling students and researchers with free access to industry leading technical tools from seismic conditioning to reservoir engineering.
Collaborating with Universities Worldwide
Through educational agreements, Cegal has partnered with universities across the world, including Europe, US, Canada, Brazil, Egypt and Middle East and Asia Pacific (MEAP).
Our suite of Geoscience software plugins allows students and researchers to optimize key workflows across data analysis, velocity modeling, reservoir characterization, modelling and engineering.
By using Cegal’s software tools during their academic journey, students gain practical experience that directly translates to the workplace and helps them develop their skills as a professional.

Supporting seismic analysis at the Waikato University in New Zealand
Recently, the University of Waikato, New Zealand, has used Blueback tools for their research on seismic geomorphology of the Taranaki Basin. Published in the Marine and Petroleum Geology journal, the study used Blueback Rocks Velocity, Blueback Toolbox and Blueback Seismic Reservoir Characterization for seismic and well log interpretations.
“Cegal's Geoscience plugin was very helpful in the analysis”
Dr Andrew La Croix, Senior Lecturer at the University of Waikato,
New Zealand.
“By providing free access to our Blueback software tools, we hope to inspire a new generation of Geoscience professionals that use tech to create a more sustainable future”, concludes Cristiano Camatel, Key Account Manager at Cegal.
For Cegal, this partnership further strengthens the focus in the region. In the past year, Cegal has opened its first office location in Australia, located 8,761 miles from the headquarter in Sandnes on Norway's southwest coast.
