Skagerak Energi has selected  Cegal, amongst several strong competitors, as their new tech partner for the next four years.  Cegal is opening an office in Larvik following the contract award.

Cegal will operate and modernize Skagerak Energi's IT system the next four years, and is also opening a regional office in Larvik. The office will be an attractive workplace for technology experts in the area.

We selected Cegal based on the evaluation of competence, sustainability and competitive price

"We need a robust tech partner that understands our requirements and business needs and can help us with a digital transformation that provides Skagerak Energy with an IT platform for the future," says Tor Heiberg, CEO Digitalisation & IT in Skagerak Energi.

Skagerak Energi produces, transforms and transfers hydropower and other renewable energy. The company delivers an average 6TWh of clean energy per year and serves more than  207.000 power customers.

Cegal – a strategic IT partner for the future

Operations of Skagerak Energi's local data centres are a key part of the contract. In addition Cegal will provide modernization of Skagerak Energy's IT services and move solutions to the cloud where possible. In addition, Cegal will deliver consulting and modernization of the IT portfolio and new digital initiatives throughout the company.

Heiberg continues: "Going forward, Skagerak will be a regional energy partner with sustainable solutions for industry, ports, larger cities and construction developers. Focussing on digitalization and flexible ways of working, Skagerak will contribute with innovation and new business."

To succeed, we need a tech partner that can help us develop an IT platform fit for the purpose

The contract with Cegal includes data centre operations in Skagerak's data centres, consulting within cloud platforms, flexible workplace, privacy, and security, in addition to the operation of Oracle middleware and databases.

CEO Dagfinn Ringås in Cegal says: "The energy sector is in the middle of massive changes driven by digitalization and the green shift. To be a leading energy company in this shift demands using future-oriented, secure, robust, and scalable IT operations."

Ringås adds that the contract entered into with Skagerak is a perfect example of contract awards as a result of the merger between SYSCO and Cegal. The CEO of Cegal emphasizes that the contract would have been awarded to neither one of the companies if operating alone. The joint forces are rudimentary.

New regional office and adding 20 new employees

CEO Dagfinn Ringås continues: "This agreement demonstrates that our experience providing services to more than 100 energy companies in Norway is appreciated. The technology competence, industry expertise, and our level of professionality enable us to take on large and business-critical digitalization responsibilities."

Skagerak Energi is a company at the core of our strategy

Following the contract award as the strategic technology partner for Skagerak Energi, Cegal is opening a new regional office in Larvik. Festiviteten, the recently renovated Grande Hall of Larvik, which is now home to several businesses, and the most beautiful outside serving in Larvik, has been chosen as the office location. The redesign project of Festiviteten is a perfect match for Cegal's ambitious focus on sustainability with the reuse of building material and the lowest carbon emission possible.

The location invites visitors to green travel as the train station is just across the street. The new regional office will also greatly benefit  other Cegal customers in the South East of Norway, like Agder Energi and Kragerø Energi.

Recruitment of new hires for the Larvik office has started. Cegal will, among others, collaborate with universities in the area and wish to create an attractive and future-oriented workplace for technology experts in the area. Six job openings are currently available, and the ambition is to have  20 employees by the end of 2023.
