What is PostgreSQL?

PostgreSQL, also known as Postgres, is an open source relational database. Development of this database began at the University of California, Berkley over 30 years ago. PostgreSQL is known to be a powerful database, with many advanced features that other, simpler databases lack. It has gained a solid reputation thanks to its reliability, performance, functional stability and proven architecture. It can therefore be said to be one of the world's most advanced databases which is used by many companies. PostgreSQL is the standard database for Apple's macOS Server, and is also available for Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Windows operating systems.

Cegal and PostgreSQL

Cegal has many consultants with extensive experience of PostgreSQL. We help our customers to install and use the database in the best possible way. This could for example involve ensuring that the architecture is correct based on what the database will be used for. The database is configured in different ways, depending on whether there are heavy or many transactions or large amounts of data. We also help customers to manage their databases. This could involve optimising operations or re-reading lost data.

We also help customers to migrate to PostgreSQL. As we have extensive experience of the largest databases on the market, we can help our customers to move data both securely and efficiently.
