Mixed - my focus is supporting existing clients and building new business in Australia, which covers a lot of bases! On any day I’ll be meeting with clients, supporting evaluations, building demo projects and upskilling in Cegal tools, managing the pipeline for Australia, and talking with colleagues at other Cegal offices globally. On top of this, I’ll be out presenting to build the Cegal presence, or meeting with potential ecosystem partners.
The tech I’m working with is a reflection of where we’re at with expanding the business in this part of the world. Currently the focus is on Blueback products such as Tracker, Investigator and the toolboxes. Beyond this, we’ll increase the footprint of our software product, there’s a services offering to establish and we’re talking with a number of clients to get the benefits of Cetegra into Australia.
Variety. I’ve been in Perth for a few years now working in organisations with global offices across timezones, so it’s definitely not a 9-to-5 thing for me. I like that each day is different, I meet new people and I’m learning cool new stuff each day. I apprecaite the combination of technology and my geo background, as well as expanding my focus from oil and gas into CCUS (Carbon capture, utilisation and storage) and renewables.
The culture and our values, which are authentic. From Day One I’ve had people reach out to me and help with what we’re trying to achieve here. Everyone in Cegal is listened to and respected but no-one’s opinions are free from challenge.
Sadly, it’s Outlook and Teams. What it should be is the full suite of Blueback tools through Cetegra hosted on a data centre in Western Australia 😉
Christmas in Australia is low key and relaxed, and with our family being a mix of Danish, British and now Australian, we take a few traditions from each country. We’ll open some presents on the 24th and eat risengrød, then the 25th we’ll start at the beach before it gets hot, then back home for a seafood BBQ by the pool. Both days we’ll Facetime with family in Europe and then on the 26th we’ll catch-up with friends in Perth for probably more food, sun and swimming!
Wishes for 2023: More of the same! We’re growing software products in Australia and I want to add to this with services and Cetegra deployments in-country; we’ll expand the team and integrate with colleagues across the world; and we’ll strengthen the brand locally with more client events.
This changes daily depending on what I’m listening to or reading, but right now, it’s from an Australian futurologist, Dr Jordan Nguyen. This resonates with what we’re doing in Cegal.
"Technology is evolving at the fastest rate we’ve ever seen. But it may not be the slowest we’ll ever see again."
Dr Jordan Nguyen

One of the reasons for my family moving to Australia in 2014 is that it’s a great base for travelling parts of the world that we’d not been to. We got to Vietnam, New Zealand’s north and south islands, Bali and some of the other Indonesian islands and Far North Queensland but then Covid hit and the borders shut. For the last few years I’ve embraced the WA (Western Australia) road trip culture and have covered much of the coast from Broome to Esperance, as well as inland in Karijini National Park and the Great Southern. We’re lookig forward to seeing more of WA and the rest of the world now we can again!
I enjoy running and it turns out I’m an OK trail runner, so I’m out on the hills and tracks around Perth a lot more now. I’ve also walked the Cape to Cape track along the south west coast of WA, so it looks like I’m a fan of being outdoors and doing stuff. That said, I do love a beer and a BBQ when I’m done!
One of the events in the Perth Winter Trail Series - four runs held in the hills around Perth. It was the first time I'd competed and I loved it. I'll step it up next season and move from the blue runs (12-15km) to the blacks (~20km).
