What does a typical workday look like to you?

I am relatively new to this role, having previously been the UK and Africa Sales Manager, so my typical day at the moment is understanding the commerciality of our portfolio, speaking to our teams globally and thinking about where we can take our geoscience portfolio next. I work closely with both the sale, product and marketing teams to understand and demonstrate the value of our tools and to come up with commercial strategies.

Which technologies do you work with?

I work with our fantastic geoscience software and services portfolio, which spans multiple domains from geophysics to data management and data science, exposing me to lots of different customer challenges and problems to solve. Which is great as I am a bit of a geo-nerd!

What drives you at work and in your role, what's fun?  

I really enjoy working with people. It is fun when we bring great people together to talk about technical challenges and we set out to solve that problem. There is no better feeling than the recognition of having solved a complex problem with cool technology solutions.

What is the best thing about working in Cegal?

Our people and having fun! I love working at Cegal as many people share the same sense of humour. We have fun while addressing complex problems and I think that is a key part of our success. 

Life is about balance and the balance of fun with challenge makes me want to come to work every day.

You are going to the GeoConvention in Calgary June 20-22 - can you tell us a little bit about this event?

Cegal will be attending GeoConvention in Calgary and I am looking forward to meeting our customer on the other side of the Atlantic. We also have been busy throughout the pandemic and will be showcasing our latest technologies in geophysics, Blueback Avary as well as Cegal Prizm and our data science portfolio. Which app do you use the most, and why?

Adobe LightRoom – I am a keen photographer and can be lost for hours editing photos.

Is there anything else we should know about you?

I love photography and spend too much time behind a camera lens (my wife would tell the same story). I also enjoy music and sports, playing 5-a-side football religiously every week. I am a dad to two young daughters which keeps home life just as busy as work... if not busier!

Fun fact: Growing up I always wanted to be fighter pilot and had set my heart on that path, but discovering that I was color blind in my late teens meant that I had to re-think my career plan and here we are!

I was lucky enough to make a couple of trips to Cairo with Cegal and was blown away by the sheer scale of the pyramids on my first visit.
