About the job

The Cegal agile development teams work on both commercial products and bespoke development offerings for a range of international customers in the oil and gas industry. As our business continues to expand, we are seeking talented individuals to work on a variety of exciting new and existing projects. We are looking for a junior software engineer/software developer or recent graduate to bring their talents to the team.

The successful candidate is to be based in our London office, which is located in Esher (12 miles south-west of London) and work with a small team of highly-skilled software engineers and software test engineers that forms part of a global team within the Cegal community.

Main responsibilities and work tasks

  • Participate in an agile team environment delivering products to customers worldwide 
  • Produce high-quality code primarily in C# using Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Produce unit testing code where applicable 
  • Utilize Microsoft Dev Ops for defect and user story tracking
  • Liaise with dedicated software test engineers within the team to produce world-class software
  • Liaise with staff from our other offices around the world
  • Experience the full software lifecycle from concept to delivery
  • Opportunities to travel to meets client for requirements capture on ongoing bespoke development projects 

 Formal requirements

  • Degree in computer science or numerate subject (e.g. engineering, mathematics, physics)
  • Strong C# competency 
  • Recent graduates or 1 to 2 years’ experience

 Personal requirements

  • Good oral and written presentation skills in English
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Enjoy working as part of a team as well as being driven and motivated to work on your own tasks
  • Hungry to learn new ideas and technologies
  • Right to work in UK

We can offer

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Competitive salary (£25,000 - £35,000), pension, health insurance, travel insurance, death-in-service insurance and discretionary bonuses.
  • 25 days’ annual leave, plus 8 bank holidays
  • Flexible working hours, including a nine-day fortnight, can be applied for after probation is completed.
